Description

Abstract The speed of desktop personal computers (PCs) has now reached a level of performance such that many scientific problems can be processed without recourse to mainframes. The pseudorandom number generators that are provided by several popular PC Fortran compilers are tested and timed, and compared to two algorithms that were previously published in this journal. Those two published routines have been enhanced and accelerated, and made compatible with a wider range of calling software.
