Title of program: HEIZ Catalogue Id: ACES_v1_0 Nature of problem In order to overcome the lack of knowledge of several authors engaged in laser plasma interaction experiments about the modification of an underdense plasma due to high power laser irradiation, a simple model was set up. The predictions of this model could be proved by several independent experiments. The principle idea is that heating by inverse bremsstrahlung absorption is balanced by classical heat conduction out of the interaction zone.
